The cross-belt sorting system consists of a main drive belt conveyor linked with a series of trolleys (referred to as "carts"), each equipped with a mini belt conveyor. When a cart moves to the designated sorting location, its belt rotates to discharge the product to the assigned destination. The system gets its name because the main drive conveyor and the mini belt conveyors on the carts are arranged in a cross-shaped configuration.
